I will be the first to admit I can get easily obsessed over an idea-especially in my crafting world. There are so many creative ideas out there waiting to be tried and never enough time. If you have been reading my blog the last few days, you will certainly realize my latest obsession is my Big Shot. I can't believe I didn't get this sooner - I am really having a blast playing with the thing!!
Several months back I was in a secret sister swap at a scrapbooking weekend and I got a kit to make a wall decoration. I pulled it out the other day and have been trying to figure out what to do with the thing. And then the ideas struck me to embellish it with paper flowers cut from card stock. They were cute but not enough - I really wanted my embellishment to pop! And then I remembered my Big Shot can cut fabric (this is where my wallet starts crying as the money is flying out like I'm a Rockefeller!). This is my first attempt but I needed to order more fabric from the UK (my office is decorated in a vintage Laura Ashley print) so I used what I had available:
The picture doesn't show it great but I think you get the idea. I used iron on batting between two layers of the fabric and just cut out with the Big Shot. The batting makes the fabric lay perfectly and the flower really pops. Oh, and I have also discovered the fun of covering buttons so they match (insert tears from my wallet again). Since I was just playing with the flower above, I decided to make it a cover for a push pin:
I love hot glue!!
And used the push pin to hold up one of my memory boards:
Cute - no? I will make more once I get the fabric I ordered. But since I was on a roll I decided to work on something for my sister's craft room. Here's a little preview:
She is coming for a visit tomorrow so I will share the full project with you next week.
I hope you have a lovely weekend - don't spend too much money ;).
Fun! Love that the steel-rule dies will cut more than paper. :) Whatever you are working on, it sure is pretty! Love the bright colors.
