Playing With Paper!!

I joined a monthly kit - wanna see?

After much searching on the internet & following multiple discussions on 2 peas, I finally signed up for a monthly scrapbooking kit.  I chose to order from www.MyCreativeScrapbook.com - I chose this sight because it just seemed to fit my style.  My first kit arrived on Tuesday:

The kit is mostly made up of paper from Echo Park - I LOVE Echo Park.  I must be honest...this kit made me step out of my comfort zone a little bit (I don't usually go for the lace & stuff).  This is the layout I came up with:

The pictures are from Valentine's Day.  I had just gotten my new camera and I was playing around with the black & white feature.  My husband had given me the most beautiful roses and I wanted to be able to remember them always!  I punched out the hearts with a punch from Martha Stewart and then sewed them on with my machine.  I think it looks really cool (this is my first time sewing on a layout).  I love this patterned paper and I think it compliments the pictures beautifully.  

After I created this layout, I decided to create a card too.

Super simple card to make and I think it's very pretty.  I really love the colors of this card and I love the chipboard flower.  What do you think?

Sewing again

I am really thrilled about my new sewing machine.  Last night I finally had a chance to use it on a card.  The patterned paper is so old - Laura Ashley.  Card stock from SU! as well as the Big Shot Die I  used to create the butterfly.  So, what do you think?

It's hard to see in the picture (sorry) but I stitched around the edge of the patterned paper and I sewed the top layor of wings on with my sewing machine.  A very simple start but I had a blast working on this.  I am still getting comfortable with my machine.  I can't wait to get more creative.  I just wish I had about a million more hours a day to play!!!

Sew cute!

See that up there...I made that!!!  I am so excited!  I have always wanted a cover for my Cricut.  I have looked on Ebay and Esty but I have never found anything  that would match my scrapbooking space.  So, I decided I would put my new sewing machine to work and sew my own.  I used a combination of 2 patterns I found on the internet: 1. www.embroiderygarden.com & 2. www.CustomCrops.com.   I believe for a person who sews on a regular basis, this would be a very simple project.  I made a few mistakes but I bought this fabric because it was cheap and I wanted to practice first before I make my "real" one.  And I never thought my "practice" cover would turn out so well.  What do you think?  Cute, no?
