Playing With Paper!!

On this first day of Spring, I will share a snowy layout!

These photos are from one of the only snow days we had this winter - and there wasn't even that much snow but my kids were determined to try out the sleds!  Love this patterned paper because of the colorful snowflakes - so pretty.  And I used a snowflake punch and my Cricut to create the additional flakes! Super simple layout but pretty & colorful!!

Sew cute!

See that up there...I made that!!!  I am so excited!  I have always wanted a cover for my Cricut.  I have looked on Ebay and Esty but I have never found anything  that would match my scrapbooking space.  So, I decided I would put my new sewing machine to work and sew my own.  I used a combination of 2 patterns I found on the internet: 1. www.embroiderygarden.com & 2. www.CustomCrops.com.   I believe for a person who sews on a regular basis, this would be a very simple project.  I made a few mistakes but I bought this fabric because it was cheap and I wanted to practice first before I make my "real" one.  And I never thought my "practice" cover would turn out so well.  What do you think?  Cute, no? 

A card and a layout too!

Yesterday, my family and I drove into Brooklyn for my husband's uncle's 70th suprise birthday party-what a great time.  The house was packed with adults and kids but everyone had such a lovely time it didn't matter how crowded we were.  I needed to make a card for Uncle John - I always struggle with cards for adult men.  Women are so easy - I feel like the possibilities are endless: flowers, balloons, butterflies, etc.  I knew I would be making this card so when I was in Michaels the other day, I was so excited I found  a birthday present punch on sale!  It was the last one and knew I could put it to good use.  Here's my card:

Such a simple card but so cute.  The paper is Chatterbox (it's velum).  I have had it for years and I think it works great.  I love simple cards that look like you spent forever on!

Over the course of the last several days I have been working on a layout.  The photos are from my sisters birthday this past year.  Susan was born on Halloween and we invited her out for the weekend so we could pamper her and celebrate!  I had it all planned:  we were going to get pedicures, we bought all kinds of princess crowns and jewels so she would feel special, my husband was going to make her a special dinner and my great friend Jamie was going to make her an amazing cake.  But Mother Nature had other plans-we got a mini blizzard, lost power and had no heat.  Pedicures were cancelled and dinner was not going to be cooked but she did get her cake (and it was delicious).  It was the craziest thing.  This is the layout:

The patterned paper is from Jilli Bean - works perfect with the snow and presents.  I used Thickers and my Cricut to make the title and the card stock is from SU!.  I am sad the weekend didn't turn out the way I had planned but I got a great layout from it!!

Hello Monday.

This weekend just flew by but thankfully I had the chance to sit in my office and play.  I have been meaning to share this card for several days now:

The patterned paper is from October Afternoon and the card stock is SU!.  The stamps set is an old SU! set - Take Three.  Really simple card but I like it.

This layout features pictures from Cape Cod this past summer - we were celebrating the July Birthdays.  I used patterned paper from Basic Grey (that I have had forever) and the flowers I cut out years ago with my Cricut.  I saved them because I knew someday I would find a use for them!!  The title is made with Thickers.  Simple, easy layout...and I like It!

The weekend just flew by...can't believe it is Monday already.  Didn't get much time in my office but I do have a layout to share:
 
I was inspired to create this layout by www.sketchesbysuzy.com.  She doesn't have a sketch like this on her blog-I came up with the sketch on my own but she did inspire me with her use of circles.  I LOVE to use circles on my layouts and so does Suzy.  The pictures are from my daughters 13th birthday (still can't believe she is 13).  The patterned paper is from SU! and I use my Cricut to cut out the title.  To create the pink swirl I sprayed the chipboard with Glittermist.  Fun layout don't you think?

It cannot be September 1st!!

Where did the summer go??  This past week has been crazy.  Hurricane Irene made her presence known in my basement-not too bad thankfully.  But before the basement situation, I thought I would spend the whole weekend scrapbooking.  Yah, right.  However because of Irene, my office was closed on Monday so I did scrap a bit then.  This is one of the pages I created:

 

I was inspired by a layout I found on www.sketchesbysuzy.com.  The patterned paper is from Sassafrass (I have had it forever) and the card stock is from SU!.  I just used circle punches to make the little embellishments  and my cricut for the title.  The photos are from my nephews birthday.  This layout makes me VERY happy!!

Hot outside...a cool layout to share!

Wow!  It's hot here in NJ.  Great day to hit the pool!!  After the winter we had, I never thought we'd be this warm again.  With the cold, snow and ice we had all winter, I took tons of pictures and am now starting to get them on layouts.

 
My kids are use to cold and snow but the ice we had this year was a bit different - they couldn't help but go exploring in it (or on it).  The patterned paper is from Echo Park - cardstock from SU!.  I created the tags with metal tags from Making Memories and the title with my Cricut.  Love this layout - just love the snowmen. 

I hope you find plenty of shade and lemonade today - you'll need it!!

These photos are from New Year's Day this past year...and I love them.  My dad always comes down to spend New Year's Eve with us and this year we were invited to our neighbors house this year.  We had the best time - there were at least 15 kids in the house with at least 11 adults - it was a blast.  My dad said he would probably only stay until 9 but at 11:15 he decided to leave with me to put the boys to bed!  My son Richard loved the party accessories we all got and wore his for most of the next day.  His glasses & hat look great with his jammie's don't you think?

I believe the patterned paper I used is from Jenni Bowlin (I feel like I have had it forever) and I used my Cricut to cut out the circles and title.  And yes, I "borrowed" my layout design from www.sketchesbysuzy.com - love her style.

Is it October 31st?

I know it's not Halloween but that is where I am in my scrapping world.  Sometimes it feels funny to be creating a layout about the fall or winter & it's a beautiful spring day (not that we've had many of those lately).  I am going to a getaway weekend this Saturday & Sunday - I would like to be up to the New Year by the time I get back...we'll just have to wait and see.

So, here's my one of my Halloween layouts for last year.  The pictures are actually from October 29 because Halloween was on a Sunday this past October.  I got shots of each of the 3 youngest kids at school during the Halloween parade and my oldest just before she left for Middle School. 

 

I used my Cricut to cut out the title; card stock from SU!.  I can't remember who designed the patterned paper or the little witches hat (sorry).  Simple layout that gets the job done!!

I so need this...

I'm going scrapping this weekend - and I can't wait.  I just need to get through the week.  Every Spring, my kids school holds a bingo & tricky tray as a fundraiser.  My friend Jamie is in charge - it is a TON of work.  Somehow Jamie manages to make it look easy but man it is a huge effort.  I help her with decorations and I run the instant raffle.  I have put my Cricut to good use this week - I have been cutting out daisies in all sizes for days.  On top of that, I have a big project to complete for work this week and it's going to rain all week - so my kids are in the house and bored.  I love my babies more than anything but I am looking forward to 2 days of not hearing "MOM" every 5 minutes.  Do you know what I mean?

I need to start packing for the weekend & thinking about what layouts I want to work on.  This time our crop space will be on the 2nd floor of the hotel. This means we will be  super close to the business center so I will be able to get to a computer which means Suzy and her sketches will be easy to access.  Can you tell how much I love her blog and sketches?  Here is another one of my interpretation of one of her sketches:
 
I used patterned paper from Echo Park (Playground - my current favorite paper) and   from Bazzill.  The chipboard for the title is from Tim Holtz and I left it unaltered - big time thinking out of the box for me!  I just love when a layout comes together easily and quickly.  Thanks Suzy!!!
